Our Role & Mission

Official District Insignia

Leo District 306 D5 is one of twelve administrative Leo districts operating under Leo Multiple District 306, constituting the vibrant youth organization of Lions Clubs International across Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

Our district brings together over 521 young leaders representing 14 official Leo clubs across the Colombo, Gampaha, and Kegalle administrative districts. We unite young people from secondary schools, universities, and local communities under the universal Lions motto: "We Serve".

Throughout each Leoistic year (July 1st to June 30th), our district coordinates grassroots humanitarian aid, leadership conferences, ecological preservation drives, healthcare screenings, and youth mentoring programs.

The Leo Movement & Pillars

The acronym L.E.O. stands for Leadership, Experience, and Opportunity — three foundational values established when the first Leo club was formed in 1957.

Leadership

Cultivating moral vision, executive governance, and ethical responsibility. Members learn how to organize committees, handle public relations, direct complex project budgets, and inspire team members to achieve collective goals.

Experience

Hands-on engagement in community problem-solving. Through direct fieldwork — including disaster relief distributions, mobile health clinics, and tree restoration — Leos gain invaluable empathy, resilience, and real-world project execution skills.

Opportunity

Opening doors to an international network of over 1.4 million Lions and Leos worldwide. Leos access career mentorship from senior business leaders, national awards, leadership institutes, and lifelong fellowships across Sri Lanka.

Alpha & Omega Classifications

Leo clubs are categorized by age and community context, ensuring tailored leadership development at every stage of youth:

Alpha Leo Clubs (Ages 12–18)

Formed within secondary schools and educational institutions. Focuses on character development, peer cooperation, academic discipline, and early introduction to community volunteerism.

Omega Leo Clubs (Ages 18–30)

Open to university students, working professionals, and community-minded young adults. Focuses on high-impact humanitarian campaigns, regional service partnerships, career networking, and executive leadership.
